What camera to buy

by idanr84 / June 6, 2013 6:54 PM PDT

I wanna buy a new camera and i'm thinking about one of these 3:

Canon PowerShot SX260

Canon PowerShot SX500

Nikon COOLPIX S9200

I'm not an advanced (not even a beginner) photographer, I want a solid camera, good zoom, good quality, hd video and light to carry around.

Plus,I want it to have enough advanced features having the possibility of using them in the near future.

The most important thing is quality of photos, day&night, and probably ease of use.

Other recommendation would be greatly appreciated.

You will be pleased with any of the three.

I would pick the Canon SX260 because it only has 12MP, which will give you photos with less noise.
The other cameras has 16MP sensors which are too many pixels for such a small size sensor.
The camera makers have to use noise reduction firmware which will also remove the smaller detail.

The Canon SX500 uses older technology (CCD sensor instead of CMOS sensor.
CMOS is much faster when shooting in burst (repeat) modes.

In reply to: Which

If you prefer a Nikon camera, look at the S9100.
It has 12MP and produces excellent detail.
Since it is an older model, the price should be less that the others.

And how would you compare the SX260 to the Panasonic ZS20 ?

They are both more or less at the same price range.
