Question

Wavy lines in background on Samsung 5300

by D_Zhivago / April 29, 2013 1:35 AM PDT

I just purchased a 51" Samsung 5300 plasma TV. For the most part, the picture is fantastic. However, I have noticed some wavy lines in the darker areas, looks almost like rain, especially when watching sports events.

I am using Monster component cables. Could it be I need to switch to HDMI? Is there something in the settings that I might be missing?

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: is this the PN51F5300AFXZA?

Hi D_Zhivago,

I'm sorry to hear about this problem. Could you clarify the model number for me? In the US, we have only one 5300 model, the PN51F5300AFXZA; is the problem you've having with this one? Also, does this happen on one source only or all the sources (cable TV, Blu-ray, etc)? And if possible, could you post a picture of it here?

Yes, it is the PN51F5300AFXZA. The problem seems to be intermittent, I have noticed it intermittently and on only a handful of channels. I have not used it with Blue-Ray yet. I am waiting for Disney WOW to calibrate.

I'm not sure that a picture would turn out but, I can give it a shot.

Thanks

Did you try it over HDMI?

Component is still analog so to rule out the usual, try HDMI from more than one source.
