Download RKILL, MalwareBytes, and Super Anti-Spyware and boot to an Adnim account in SAFE MODE. Install and run them and do NOT re-boot until after the last scan.
Now, re-boot and see if things are better or worse (ridding yourself of some types of malware can cause other problems which can generally be repaired fairly easily.
Hi, I have a Dell Insiron 1545 laptop, running Vista Service Pack 2 home premium, 32 bit OS, 4 GB RAM, intel duo core CPU 2.00 GHz
about 90% of the time the computer freezes after the user desktop displays. The other ten percent of the time you can use it for a random amount of time before it will freeze up again. I have run a registry scan, disc scan, trend security, ccleaner and diskcheck from the Safemode where it will boot and run just fine.
The computer was working fine, had to spend three weeks in CA in a hotel for the Army and it all started there. The internet (painfully slow) would load, and work for a while, then Firefox would "not respond" and eventually it would freeze up.
I am currently an IT student, so not being able to figure this out is kind of bothering me. I was thinking potentially I received a virus that is disguised as a start up program in MSconfig, I checked those out and all looks the same as before
Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can get all of my files off of safe mode, so if it got right down to it and I had to do a clean install that wouldn't be a big deal, but I would rather not if I don't have to.
