viera digital audio out to a D/A converter

by betsywoj / May 8, 2013 10:17 AM PDT

just tried to hook up my Gefen GTV-DD-2-AA to my panasonic Viera P50GT50 via the digital audio output. i push the D/A select button a few times and nothing. I have this connected to my bose surrond sound (an older model that only has RCA input jacks). If i disconnect the fiber cable going into the D/A converter i see the red light. I bought the more expensive gefen d/a converter since the panasonic output is dolby. anyone have any suggestions or should i just return the Gefen D/A converter?? thanks for any help

I've only used the stereo models.

Does a receiver work?

And what if you set the audio to stereo?

Reminder, If your TV is a 2012 model, you need to turn off the internal speakers, which then switches to Optical SPDIF output. The 2013 models seem to output from Optical SPDIF always (and no way to turn speakers off).
