Question

Video Card Dead?

by Grouchofish / May 13, 2013 8:06 AM PDT

Recently I've been getting rows of weird pixels in my images on my powermac G5 (Dual core running Leopard) and now when I try to start the computer, it gets as far as the white screen with the Apple and right when it does a pause before the desktop pops on, it crashes and tells me to restart. Wondering if the video card has gone bye bye or could it be something else?

the G5 was notorious, not entirely the fault of Apple, for this.

Hardware good - OS bad

Had a tech diagnose the MAC and he found no problems with the hardware. Turns out there were issues with the OS. Reinstalled it and am up and running again.
