Question

unlimited 4g lte account as home internet?

by sprinto16 / December 9, 2012 1:27 AM PST

I have an unlimited data package for my Verizon 4g LTE Droid Razr that I would like to use as my home internet provider. How can I network the phone Hot Spot and will it be sufficient to stream movies and tv?

I looked at the Verizon unlimited plan here and it is not unlimited but drops the speed after your planned number of GB.

It is not sufficient to stream HD content because of reasons discussed before.

I have the unlimited plan from way back a couple of years and just have not changed the phone. What is the "planned number of GB"? Does verizon restrict speed after after certain amount of data?

Can I somehow connect the cell phone to a switch and a router and use wired connections? Would that help with speed and ability to stream HD content?

1. Your carrier sets those rules.

As I don't work for them, and I don't know your plan, you must ask them.

2. Connect phone to a switch.

Now that I've done. I used an Android phone and tethered it to my PC and used Virtual Router to a real router as well as make a hot spot.

Cellular speeds are what they are. If you can't buffer content with your solutions, then you will encounter the same issues everyone has discussed. I hope you are not wanting to repeat those discussions.

But they really don't matter. The carriers set the rules and you must get their word on it. I've had this sort of discussion before and most folk need to get it from the horse of course.
