UE55D7000 green dots

by phivosk / December 30, 2012 3:03 AM PST

My one year old UE55D7000 started a few weeks ago to show green dots on the screen (not on the edge of the screen). At the beginning I thought that it was bad reception from cable or antenna, until I had all coaxial disconnected from the ANT input and could see these green dots on XBOX or USB external inputs Sad
The presence of these green dots is intermitent, they come and go for no apparent reason.
Any ideas what this could be? I've tried several different settings on the picture menu but nothing helps.

In the USA if you register your set you often get 3 more months on the warranty. Do that now then call it in. In the USA it's 1800SAMSUNG.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for your message. But just so you know: if you want Samsung support, I support US products and customers. And from what I can tell, this model is for UK. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) So while I can't help you directly, if you want Samsung help, here's the Samsung UK portal for support on that product:

Hope this helps you!

Moving green pixels across the screen...hardware failure?
by phivosk / January 1, 2013 1:24 AM PST

Hi Bob and HD Tech,

Thanks for your efforts to help me out.
The UE55D7000 was purchased in Cyprus. I think it is the same model for all across Europe. Unfortunately no real support in Cyprus for these TVs. If I decide to ship this fragile 55in TV to the local service team it will probably take a month to have it back... hopefully in one piece. Not to mention that the fact that this problem is intermittent, I have my doubts that the fault will be identified in the first place.

If I have no other options I will ship the TV to the local service team. Most important to me at this point is to figure out whether this is a hardware failure or some sort of setting/software magic can fix it. With your experience, which do you think is the problem, hardware or settings? I could send a couple of screenshots to better describe the problem, but I cannot attach anything in this forum.

Thanks, Phivos.

Light bulbs you shouldn't buy

There are plenty of dimmable LED light bulbs, but make sure you don't buy the ones that flicker when you dial them down.
