Question

TV controls freezing since digital changeover

by jimdoyle99 / April 26, 2013 4:27 AM PDT

I have a Samsung 32" LED TV, purchased about 3 years ago. I purchased a model which claimed to be ready for Saorview.
I can now receive terrestrial digital tv from Ireland and from the UK. However, once a UK signal has been chosen, the controls (both on remote and on the set) freeze, and the only way out is to turn the TV off and then on again.
This problem does not occur with Irish signals.
Anybody know of a fix?

model not in Samsung's list

I also can't find my model number on Samsung's list. Because of this, I can't start looking for a firmware update. Maybe Samsung don't support "old" models. My TV would be among the earliest TVs sold in ireland with built-in MPEG 4 decoder.
I reckon there's a problem decoding MPEG 2 (UK) signals on a TV which is also decoding MPEG 4 (Saorview, Ireland) signals.

What I read

What I read and why I included the link is that the set top box did the decode work. It's late Friday so I fear we won't hear from the Ambassador about who to ask next.
