Toshiba Satelite Laptop horizontal lines on screen

by shadowrouge99 / June 3, 2010 7:12 AM PDT

Hi,

I own a Tosihba Satelite A205-S5000 laptop, barely 2 years old. This afternoon after turning it on from standby (as in the lid was closed), everything was fine for about 5 sec., when suddenly white lines covered the screen. Rebooting has not helped. The desktop is sitll visible, just covered in these horizontal white lines from top to bottom. Reading is pretty much impossible.
The laptop has not been dropped in anyway, and I treat it pretty well, only slightly dirty. I am not very tech savvy so any help would be greatly appreciated.

windows update is up to date, save for a microsoft office thing i've yet to update. I don't think that's the problem. Display drivers I think are fien too, checked device manager and everythign is up to date.
This is really weird. The problem isn't serious, because I can still pretty much use the computer. They're just these horizontal/some vertical lines coming through my screen, making everything pretty hard to read. My warranty denies coverage if the screen is cracked but i don't see any exterior damage.

I say 'send it back', let the manufacturer worry about the problem.
