DUDE ITS COOL

Apple has outdone themselve this time. The iPhone 4 is AMAZING! I love the iRetina technology, but i was hoping that it would be HD, although it is almost there. Overall this thing is really cool.

Waiting 'til next year.

The only disappointing thing about the phone is the memory. I was hoping to see 64Gb this year. Other than that it's a pretty amazing device. Aside from all the obvious new features, I'm especially happy about the 802.11n. I'm chomping at the bit to install iOS 4 on my 3GS and can't wait until next year when my contract runs out. If the iPhone 4 is this cool, wait until v5 comes out!

The bad: Multitasking entails some trade-offs, and home screen folders are limited to 12 apps. AT&T reception continues to be spotty.

THE NEW IPHONE
by stangram / June 11, 2010 11:09 AM PDT

I believe that the present Iphone is a great step forward, and easy to
use (except for the desktop program, which needs some work)...The 'toughness' of the new unit is impressive....the software additions are 'fun city'.....shouldn't hesitate, if you are ready for an upgrade from ATT, etc...

HOWEVER, the #4 Operating System will be available for those who have
the Iphone, especially if you have a the top of the line, ie. the 3GS.

Most of the new features on the new Iphone will run on your 3GS. Some will not....I'm not sure at this writing which ones they are....But anyway, it would be a substantial upgrade...It should be out on the APPLE site after the the #4 starts shipping...just have to check back.
I thought I read it was a FREE Update...?

With the 4G Apple almost, but not quite, catches up with the HTC Incredible.

But of course to get the iPhone 4G you have to put up with AT&T's network, an impediment that nothing they could have done can hope to overcome.

AT&T isn't perfect but it's not that bad

Before I bought my first iPhone I was with Verizon for years and wasn't all that happy with them. They disabled a number of Bluetooth functions for no apparent reason and their service was no better or worse than AT&T's. When Apple starts selling to other carriers I'll probably shop around for the best priced plan, but poor service isn't an issue in my neck of the woods (NY, NJ Metro region).

Apple iPhone unlocking

I feel actually need more than he was able to present at the Conference to evaluate the phone.

Big question I have is.....

What is the prediction of the responders here as to when the phone will be hacked and unlocked?

I think iOS 4 is being released on Tuesday and will probably be hacked before the phone itself is released. I don't think Apple tries too hard to prevent hacking. They get to sell a phone they don't have to support.

A lot of bugs in ios think wait for 4.1 (4.0.1) and then a full breakup will be.
