Question

Superantispyware free updates

by Willy / October 2, 2013 6:33 AM PDT

I use free SAS and have to get the update definitions because i have dial-up internet. It takes a long time to get the d/l, thus I manually get the update definition file and sneaker it over to the PC that needs updating.

What, I have found is the PC being updated doesn't properly show its been updated. It continues to say, the last update was x-days ago not the just done update and/or reboot of SAS afterwards. It takes the definition and does whatever and asks to be restarted, so what gives. Any ideas...

Yeah, I may nightly do this but I rather not. -----Willy Happy

I tried last night

I went and tried to get the latest direct SAS updates via dial-up. It took so long it failed twice, it was on its 3rd try repeating the same download. I gave-up and stopped it after roughly 1 1/2hrs. of trying. I did get the latest SAS install version, just to try to re-install and hope it proceeds w/o issue. if anyone knows why it fails to d/l, please post. a adios -----Willy Happy

Willy, It DOES Actually Update Using the Offline Update File

..but unfortunately, it doesn't show correctly on the user interface of SAS. The "Database Status" reads as though it wasn't updated. You can determine whether the program updated correctly by checking the "Database Version" numbers listed on the main page of the program. Compare them with the "Core definitions" listed on the update page and you'll see the definition update is correct.

I'll guess your download problem is related to the new program version update that occurred today.. The new program version is now 5.6.1040. It's a large file update when combined with the definition update.

Hope this helps.

I guess you have a point there, its going to be a large update if i got the file at all. Looks like I have to offline re-install with latest release. Thanks for the input. -----Willy Happy

maybe due to the back log of new installs or updates, my PC finally was able to update. It also was updated to the latest release as well. As of this time its OK. It seems I picked a bad week to do all this prior to the slow response. -----Willy Shocked
