Sounds that you have at least some parasites, example Newdot. So, try in the following order:
1. Click this Antiparasite suite message and pass all of them.
2. Read Startup page. As for disabling , you'll find them at THE PROGRAMS section.

I run XP Professional, and have stopped any programs that I don't want to run at startup..the obvious ones that I know..herein lies my question :)Exactly what is safe to stop running at startup? My comp seems to be taking longer and longer to start up and shut down lately, and I'm not sure if I need files in startup such as CMESys, NEWDOT~2, WCESCOMM, SNDMON, GStartup etc. I don't have lots of shortcuts on my desktop, and have sufficient memory to do all that I need or want to. Also, in Services, there are so many Microsoft apps..do all these need to be running, and what happens if you hide them? I'm sure there are others out there who have wondered the same thing, but I'm female and blonde, and can get away with asking such questions! I'd appreciate any feedback on this...thanks and stay safe all of you
