...if you do have the right Windows 8 driver, then it has to be a hardware problem. I have to say that my experience with Gateway hardware has been abysmal.
I have an HP G70 laptop with a couple of gigs of ram and a 250gb hard drive. I upgraded to windows 8 in January and since that time my sound hasn't worked right. When it is off overnight or just restarted, the sound works, Then after an hour or two the sound quits working. This is true whether or not I use the onboard speakers. Is this a hardware failure? A driver failure? A windows 8 problem or what? I spoke to a windows 8 tech who walked me through updating all the drivers and he concluded I had a hardware failure. The Device Manager says everything is working as it should. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
