Sony vaio fx 705

Ideas Please

A friend has brought this laptop seconded hand and we have come across a small fault hopefully. My friend Sent this laptop to me to be tested and i have done so to find on testing, After a couple of days using the laptop it crash. Now on power up the the screen of the laptop no longer dispalys anything. I have tried all the logical thinks like checking its not in standby or hibernation. Also tried to bootup using a external monitor this also did not boot. Tried with mains power and with out mains power(on the battery). Have checked ram is working and seems to be fine, also check all removable hardware, it all seems to beworking. Has anyone jave any ideas of wot to do or check next???
