Sony kdl55nx720 "buzzing"

by Deans59 / February 1, 2012 12:28 PM PST

I'm now on my 3rd Sony kdl55nx720 over two months. The TV emits an electronic buzzing sound which can be heard through the rear vents. The sound is inconsistent in that it sometimes happens when the TV is cold, sometimes hot, stops and starts. The outlet and surge strip have been checked by the installation technicians and still no answer to why. The problem was discovered by the setup tech with the 1st TV delivered and he thought it might have something to do with the power input. All three have done this and have come from the same store.

Has anyone heard of anything like this?

Seems to be fairly rare but not unheard of.

After my TV laying unused for about 3 months, when i switched it on first time, some brief hiss sound came form the rear near the power cord area. Sounded like a short-circuiting chip! i was quite worried, but then nothing happened afterwords. One time ony. Works fine till now. Should i be worried?

The thing about warranties is if you don't call it in and get the event into the record books, when it fails just out of warranty you don't have a leg to stand on.

Light bulbs you shouldn't buy

There are plenty of dimmable LED light bulbs, but make sure you don't buy the ones that flicker when you dial them down.
