sony fx1. Blank spaces on tape when recording.

by junior2013 / May 1, 2013 9:58 AM PDT

A consistent problem which I have been having with this camera,(otherwise excellent) has been intermittent and sporadic 'freezes' on the recorded footage on the mini dv tape. This consists of 1-2 sec of a still image and also blank audio. The 'live' footage kicks in again after this still occurs with no adverse affect on the sync of both. The still is occuring on the actual tape itself as it can be observed on the lcd screen of the camera. The only cause I can think of is that the camera may be being temporarily paused by an external radio source such as a mobile phone( or similar) being used nearby. Though clutching at straws here. I have turned off remote control on the camera, but same still happens. Any advice please?

Yes you may be correct. I thought about this myself after I had posted. So will try it out.Just to clarify however, the freeze does not show on the lcd during recording,(or at least I have never witnessed it), but it does show during playback. Yes, I would say it is a specific period of seconds that it happens and the camera does have a snapshot facility, though I have never used it. However, I think the snapshot takes a 4-5 sec. still, but I'll check that out also. Btw, checked out the rocket cleaner link, but the reviews on it were not very favourable, but thanks anyway. Also thanks in general for your help.

I carry both the bottle and the can.

The canned air is not allowed on flights so the bottle rocket is what I carry in my kit bag on travel. It's hard to imagine folk would write a bad review on an air duster. Go figure? I can only guess they are that new generation of folk that don't do or use such things and may have other agendas. Very odd.

Any how at home and office we have canned air for when we need to clean it up a little.
