If you check out the current discussions about moving video of WiFi you should discover it's an early feature or a work in progress. I don't know if I could write all that's going on here but the amount of data to be moved is more than the link so you get buffering.
As to your "tell the tv what to play" that is the approach the ChromeCast took.
Sorry but all this is part of a very long discussion but it's possible the makers will someday have to make a choice and that could be to create a walled garden. That is, never allow any leading edge idea because it may not work for everyone. Maybe in consumer products that would be a good thing.
Hi, i have a Smart TV UE32F5500AW with newest firmware 1114. When i use youtube app directly from TV it works perfect, videos play nice without buffering.
I have paired my Samsung Galaxy S2 with my TV. When i want to play a youtube clip from phone it works but TV buffers a lot, like every 15 seconds. I also paired my laptop with the tv, same problem.
So conclusion is: youtube app directly from tv plays good but when used with paired device it buffers a lot. I wonder why because paired device only tells tv what clip to play, right? Or is it streamed through paired device?
