"Smart objects" in Pages?

by learning curve / March 26, 2010 1:13 AM PDT

I have started to learn Photoshop and continually find myself comparing it with Pages in terms of what it can do and how it works with respect to page layout. In Photoshop you cannot rotate a photo without losing content unless you change it into a smart object first. I have rotated, flipped and scaled photos repeatedly in Pages and have not observed a deterioration in quality. In fact they are very clear and good. Does Pages turn photos into the equivalent of a smart object--no longer a collection of pixels but an object in its own right? K
