Question

Smart Hub Problem

by stewhub / September 17, 2013 9:41 PM PDT

I connected HBOGO thru an ipad to the Samsung tv. We watched a movie, and when it was done, I had this problem. My tv is playing Turner Classic Movies thru the Smart Hub and it will not stop. I cannot find a way to exit Smart Hub. I unplugged the tv, I cut power to all tv connected devices, I cut power to my wireless router. This is a 2012 tv. I tried reconnecting the network. Help.

Hi stewhub,

Thank you for supplying the model code. As far as the issue you are experiencing, does Turner Classic Movies continue to play in the smart hub even after the TV has been restarted? I would suggest a Smart Hub reset if you are able to access the option. If not you will need to perform a factory reset. I am providing links explaining both of these processes.

Factory reset: http://support-us.samsung.com/cyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?idx=168291

Yes-it continues to play. I tried the Smart Hub reset, but it did not solve the problem. I hit the second link, and it tells me what to consider, but not how to actually do the factory reset. Can you send me a link to that. Thanks.

Hi stewhub,

I apologize for the missing information in the previous link. I would suggest disconnecting your cable from the TV an performing the Smart Hub reset once again. Please let me know the results.

It turns out my problem was not understanding how Smart Hub works. I received no manual, and for some reason cannot access the emanual on the tv. The regular channel was tuned to TCM. When I exited Smart Hub, it went to that channel. In talking thru instant chat with Samsung, she suggested I try all my remote buttons, including channel changer. When I did, the channels changed, and regular tv was there, out of Smart Hub. I did not realize the upper left area on the Smart Hub screen was the active channel on regular tv, and when I hit the Smart Hub button, it was taking me to live tv. It is a unfortunate that I have to figure out Smart Hub by trial and error. Thanks for all your time. Stew
