Question

Sim not recognised

by yaakovraskin / June 12, 2013 10:33 PM PDT

Hi!
I have a Galaxy S, unlocked from AT&T, aka samsung captivate.
It recently stopped getting service. I think it realises that there is a SIM, it just won't get reception. I tried with a few netwroks, in two countries, nothing doing.
Wifi wroks, bluetooth works... just cell reception missing. Now it's like I've got a Samsung version of the iPod Touch Sad
As you may have guessed, it's out of warranty, though in great condition.
Any help?

.....have active cell service with a provider? If so, which one? Have you ever had cell reception on that phone? Where are you?

You haven't provided enough information for anyone to offer advice.

The face you can't load apps (your other post) is proof to me this is not unlocked.

It worked for a few months

I I used it in England on o2, T-Mobile and orange. In Israel on Golan. Worked for a few months, then suddenly stopped, on all networks.
It may have been an international phone to begin with, so it doesn't need to be unlocked for network, but it's still locked for apps. I'm not sure. But it definitely was working, and now doesn't.

It wasn't a truly unlocked phone.
