dep = data execution prevention
LEAVE IT ON!!!!!!!
*LEAVE* *IT* *ON* *!* *!* *!* *!* *!*
it trys to prevent things from running code in memory space which is the source of buffer overruns.
check out security now from leo laporte and steve gibson http://twit.tv/sn they did a episode or so about it
I am using Win XP SP2 with 2 GB of RAM and a 3000MB pagefile set.
Is PAE/DEP hurting my performance? Should I disable it?
I know PAE is to allow greater than 4GB of memory, but does my pagefile count toward that? Do I have to have PAE enabled with my combination of 2GB RAM and 3GB pagefile?
Is my pagefile set to a good size for my RAM? Should I lower it so I can disable PAE?
