SATA Mode Select?

by AGondi / April 29, 2013 1:15 PM PDT

Hello, I'm fairly new to computers and ran across a problem. I tried to change my SATA Mode to IDE but it is grayed out on Raid Mode. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried resetting the Motherboard, and that did not work. Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!

I have no idea what it means, sorry if this isn't an alert. I probably should have put it as a question. New to the forums, forgive me!

So far.

So far the boards I see allow IDE emulation but not if you have RAID enabled, etc. Lots of rules but without the make/model I can't read the manual (please supply a link to such) and see if you get to start over. Such a change would only be needed in rare cases.

Tell more.

Not likely

This is wholly dependent of the mtrbd. chipset involved and if at all the maker allows anything beyond a certain point. IMO, you're not going to have both, RAID and IDE emulation with SATA drives. It slows down RAID and its intended service and could easily fail when pushed. Since, you've tried this and see the results, you know your answer.
