I haven't heard that specific combination of problems. I've had a few (2 or 3) customers report being unable to use the remote for the entire time, but that was when using Amazon Instant Video; however, when I asked them for more information, no one ever got back to me.
The volume level has also been reported across a variety of models of TVs, Blu-ray players, and home theaters without an kind of consistency, so we haven't been able to attribute it to anything about any given device. As far as a possible resolution, try pressing the tools button when watching a movie and switching the sound mode to amplify.
I just purchased a Samsung UN46ES7100. I have it connected to my network and the picture is superb and everything seems to work, until I use the Netflix app. When I click on Netflix, it starts up, and I'm able to make a selection. When the selection starts playing, the remote will not function for 30 seconds to 1 minute. The other problem is the volume is extremely low. (Usually I leave it less than 10 for watching cable, but need to turn it up to around 50 to hear anything.)
Now this is why I think it is the HDTV that is having the issues, I also have a Samsung 3d Blueray player. When I use netflix with that it works perfect, the remote doesn't have any issues, and the volume remains at a good listening level.
Has anyone had similar problems or should I return the TV?
