Samsung LCD TV screen went black (audio on, no picture)

by Joetorious / September 13, 2009 6:19 AM PDT

My 46-inch Samsung LCD TV screen went black as I was watching football. Audio works. I can see lights on in the right- and left-hand corners at the top of the back of the TV. It is less than 2.5 years old.

The blue light around the power button is solid when the TV is powered off. It blinks about 4 or 5 times when the TV is turning on, then it goes off. I can hear my Wii and my TV channels, but can see nothing.

I used two different HDMI cables and neither seems to be the culprit. I only recently purchased the Wii - is that potentially the problem?

I turned the TV off for several minutes, but that didn't change the outcome.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

Samsung LCD TV screen went black (audio on, no picture)

Joetorious,

I don't think any of the connected devices would be the problem.

What I might suggest is resetting your television.

On the remote:

Press EXIT for 12 seconds, and then press Enter. Wait a few minutes then shut down the TV.

If that doesn't work, Press EXIT for 12 seconds, and then push the down arrow key on the remote, and then press Enter.

If that reset doesn't work, you may need to have the unit inspected.

I got a 3 years old Samsung 42 LCD TV. Never had any problems, all of a sudden the screen goes black and only sound is there! i send it for repair to samsung and now they are asking for AED 6000 after charging AED 300 cash upon tv pick up! they said the panel needs to be changed! i think this is crazy and incorrect as the new TV is AED3000! i will never buy SAMSUNG product again! always go for the good quality names built in reputable places! NO CHINA OR KOREA unless you want to go for disposable equipment!
