Samsung HDTV display model, can't remove promo images

by johnmmartin2 / March 8, 2011 12:54 AM PST

Hey: I just bought the last 26" Samsung LED Tv at my local Best Buy. It was a display model, and when I set it up at home, the promotional imagery was still running along the bottom of the screen. How do I exit from the promo mode?

johnmmartin2,

Menu > Setup > Plug and Play [Enter]

You'll go through the TVs setup. Choose HOME MODE rather than SHOP MODE.

Promos should disappear. If not, post back and let me know.

On my menu the plug and play option is grayed out. TV won't let me access it to switch off shop mode. Any advice? J

johnmmartin2,

Sure, let's see if this will do the trick:

With the television powered ON, press and hold the EXIT button on the remote control continuously for 15 seconds. You should then be prompted to "RESET?" Select YES and press ENTER. The television should reset and power down.

Now, power the television up and you'll go through the initial factory setup menu, which will scan for your over the air channels and set up your other devices. When you get to the prompt that asks if you want SHOP MODE or HOME MODE, select the HOME mode.

Does that do the trick?

I am having the same problem. When I try to reset the TV through that method, the option never pops up.

All you have to do is select TV as the source and Plug and Play will be available. No need to reset the TV.
