Samsung 8000 series auto change to 3d when switch channel

by madtohkin / March 6, 2013 4:40 AM PST

I recently changed my TV provider from Fios to DirectTV. The problem I have is when I change channel on DTV occasionally the picture auto switches to 3D. Then I have to push the 3D button on remote to go back. Anyone having this problem? I did just update the TV software. Thanks for the help.

Hi madtohkin,

Very sorry to hear about this. So did this TV work fine on FIOS before you switched to DirecTV? And does this happen every time you switch the channel?

Never happened before and it is occasionally switching to 3d on non-3d channels.

Hi madtohkin,

OK, that's good to know that it's not happening all the time. Can you make the behavior occur? For instance, does it always happen on particular channels?

Just got Dtv so I'm not sure which channels, will be looking out for that. It normally happens when going up or down a channel at a time. Not when I manually put the channel in. I'm almost positive its something with Dtv. Fios worked fine for almost half a year.

Hi madtohkin,

Please do keep an eye for which ones do it. If we can narrow down when and where it happens, we'll get a better shot at figure out what's causing it.

nothin like a little tv time

Finally found out when it happens. Seems to only happen when I switch to a non hd channel. I didn't buy a $3k tv to watch non-hd so its not like I'm missing out on any programming I would normally watch,( I set the Dtv box to hide all standard def duplicate channels). It would b nice for it to not be such a pain since the auto switch lags the Dtv reciever. Any suggestions?

Hi madtohkin,

OK, that's some good discovery done there. I'm going to talk to the product specialist in this one. What's your TV's complete product code? UN55ES8000?
