S27A350 and hdcp

by ddpnaza / October 27, 2011 6:07 PM PDT

Hello, I'm a little frustrated and this is why:

I've just puchased the S27A350 27 inch LED monitor from samsung. It has both HDMI and D-sub connector.

I connected it to my ASROCK ION computer (has a blu-ray disk player) with a HDMI cable.

I'm using powerDVD 11 but it says that my monitor doesn't support HDCP and won't play my blu-rays.
My Nvidia control panel also says that the monitor isn't hdcp compliant.
I've downloaded and installed the samsung syncmaster latest driver but still nothing.

This computer used to be connected by a HDMI cable to my panasonic videoprojector and read my blu-rays nicely.
Could it be that the monitor isn't HDCP compliant??

Samsuns USA page only finds the s27a350h on http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/monitors/LS27A350HS/ZA-specs but that says "DVI with HDCP".

A google search for S27A350 HDCP" only returns Scandinavion language hits, but a lot of them also mention DVD with HDCP.

I think there's reason enough to go back to the shop and complain. Either it's defective (so you have it repaired or exchanged under warranty) or you can just return it and buy another monitor that works for you.

Well what's a little confusing is the "DVI With HDCP" part since there's no DVI connection on this mmodel only D-sub and HDMI. Anyway I really can't believe that a 2011 LED monitor isn't HDCP compliant!

Gonna try to contact samsung support

Thanks
