right-click button doesn't work

Dell Lattitude laptop running xp with add-ons. First the computer didn't boot. After restart numerous times, it did. Mouse didn't work. Ran defrag, system restore- mouse now works except for right click. No new programs were added, virus program clean. Thanks

Right click

Have a look at Control Panel>Mouse>Mouse Properties and see what the setting is for right-click. That is, of course, assuming that you have the right driver for your mouse. You can check that by looking what it says and if it tallies with the description on the Control Panel properties box. If it is not the same, get the correct driver from the mouse manufacturer's site. Good Luck - Amos

Thanks Amos. Looking back I realized I hadn't mentioned that this is a laptop with one of those flat things you run your finger around on and clicks are built in buttons, so everything looks right in the mouse check. Hope that is clearer. Thanks again.
