Question

Remote Control for Camcorder - Bluetooth?

by distinction13 / April 1, 2013 9:20 AM PDT

Looking for some expertise...

We do videotaped speaker coaching and like to leave the video camera on the tripod and wired into projector for coaching playback from the front of the room using a small remote for playback (Remote Commander?). These came with most video cameras a while back... not now...

I see now that WiFi connections are common that could allow a smart phone to control the camcorder. But wireless networks not always available onsite. Some camcorders now come with Bluetooth.

All I need is select thumbnail, forward, pause, rewind and play type control from the smartphone - nothing more. Any ideas??

http://store.sony.com/p/RM-AV2/en/p/RMAV2 gets you up to 59 feet.

But let me give you a tip. Most folk do not control the camcorder. They'll hit record and let it run. Later in post production (some call the editing) then it's all cut down to size.

Also, the gigs I've been on has a camera operator. I'm making a big guess you don't have one?

Wireless Controller

You can still get a wireless controller with some Canon HD cameras - it is an optional extra. Wi-Fi connection was intended for downloading not for control.
