Problems with Panasonic DMP-BD30 Firmware update to ver 2.4

by Starsailor65 / April 23, 2013 3:08 AM PDT

Hi, I hope someone can help. I have recently tried to update the firmware on my Panasonic DMP-BD30 BluRay player to version 2.4 from version 1.0 and have encountered a problem which is preventing me from doing so.
I downloaded the zip file from your website and following the attached instructions, unzipped it and copied the PANA_DVD.FRM file to a blank CD-R. I then inserted the disk into the machine and pressed 'close'. The machine then, as expected, displayed the message 'BYE' then switched itself off. The next message displayed was READ' and then ''L FVU'. After approximately 10 seconds it displays the message 'E DISK' and the disk is ejected from the machine. After a further 30 seconds the machine switches itself back on and displays 'HELLO'. After a quick check, the firmware remained unchanged at version 1.0.
Thinking it was something I was doing wrong, I had my local Panasonic shop look at it and the salesman (who had previously spoken with his engineer) had exactly the same results as I did and could not explain why it was happening. 'Hats-off' to the salesman though as he then proceeded to show me the latest version of my player which had just been reduced in price!
If anyone can shed any light on my problem it would be very much appreciated.

is it running ok with the firmware that's installed? Seem like the Panny doesn't want the new firmware. Just an observation....Digger
