Before you can format this drive, you'll need to right-click in from the administrative tools and create a partition. Then and only then will you be able to format it. If for some reason that doesn't work, you'll have to replace it, but that's not the end of the world. 1 TB external hard drives can be bought for as little as $70.
I'm having trouble fixing a hard drive that i may have permanently damaged. When trying to format from ntsf to fat 32 being the genius that i am i accidentally deleted the volume from the hard drive. Ive asked several people what to do because ive tried everything i can think of but the computer will not recognize the hard drive anymore under my computer. However it will recognize it in device manager. It pops up under 2 different categories, mass storage device and under usb. i was told to do a format from run and this did not work. all it did was pop up a screen for a split second then closed. Someone told me to go under disk management and right click unollocated space but this does nothing. it will not let me format it either. When i plug it into the computer it turns on but like i said it just doesnt work :(. Im starting to think it cannot be fixed without some type of software. If anyone has any opinions or ideas on how to fix this please message me on here. I know someone out there could atleast tell me if its worth keeping or throwing in the trash. The dang thing worked fine until i screwed it up. Please help im a desperate man.
