PIP suddenly not working

by QSusie / January 6, 2010 1:07 AM PST

I have a samsung HDTV model LN37B650T1F hooked up to a comcast HD cable box & using a splitter to tv so I can enjoy my PIP function! Have had tv since Sept 2009 & have been using the PIP all along which has been great!!
However, last night the PIP was only allowing the very basic channels on the second screen! Prior to last night, I could watch any & all channels (basic, extended basic, premium, & HD) on main screen while being able to watch at least any basic & extended basic on second screen (I know I can't watch a 2nd HD channel)! Can't figure out what happened!
I checked all my connections & have it on right input as evidenced that I can at least access basic channels on second screen!
Anyone know what the problem could be & how to fix it??

Comcast PIP

You now need a digital to analog converter from Comcast with your splitter to receive channels above 29 when using their cable signal without going through their cable box. This is a recent change. Our Samsung set uses analog input for PIP and will work with the Comcast converter. No charge from Comcast for the converter. I had the same problem.

To BuckeyeGolfer: thank you again for the solution! I went & picked up the converter today & hooked it all up! However, I have a new issue:
I have first start w the Samsung remote, click on TV input, then use the converter remote to pick the channel I want to c in my pip sub screen, then go back to Samsung remote, click on the HDMI input to choose my main channel!
Does this make sense??
Where did I go wrong??!!
I hope u can help me again!
Thank you again for your time & consideration in this frustrating matter!!

Correct, no easy way. I split my Comcast cable 3 ways- 1)antenna "cable", Comcast digital/ analog converter 2) antenna "air", direct cable to TV set and 3) Comcast HD box with Samsung HDMI input.
Must use comcast digital/analog remote for PIP for comcast channels 30 and up for PIP with Samsung TV on channel 3 on the TV input and HDMI TV set input for the main PIP picture. Hope this helps.

Thank you BuckeyeGolfer!
I was told that purchasing one of those ultimate remote controls, like the Logitech Harmony One, should solve having to use multiple remotes! That'd be nice to have just one remote for everything!!
Thx again!
