Question

Panasonic phone answering maching not ending

by volvogirl / August 17, 2013 5:19 AM PDT

OK back in July I posted this on the Panasonic website but now can't find it again. I saved the link but can't find a question listing that was there before. So here it goes

I have a KX-TG4772 and the answering machine won't end recording when the caller hangs up. It keeps beeping for awhile and then just records dead air and says answering. I'm going to pay attention and see if it's only on messages left from the same person.

Last time Panasonic told me to change the line mode and to press the [MENU] button then press #, 1, 2, 2, then choose the mode option not currently used and press SAVE. I did that but it hasn't helped and in fact the line buzzing (I also have) is worse.

Finally got annoyed enough to call the phone company. He came out and said the buzz static was real bad on all 3 lines. Apparently there are 2 spare lines coming into the house. He checked the connections in the junction box between the houses and there was a lot of corrosion and grounding (or something about the ground). Said it was building up a lot of charge. Got it all cleaned up and the line is clear and the answering machine works right now.
