OSX 10.8.5. and Nikon D5100

My computer can't see this camera. . . or any of my photos. Any solutions?

the card reader is the way to go.

I don't remember the last time I actually attached my camera to my Mac. I just pop out the card, stick it in the Card Reader and let iPhoto do its thing.
