Opening PDF files

by WILKAN / May 7, 2013 12:51 AM PDT

Whenever I try to open a PDF file from a Website, it only stays on for a few seconds, not long enough to do anything with it. Anybody knows why, and what I need to do?
My OS is Windows XP and I use EI 8 and Adobe Reader

For this, uncheck a Adobe setting. Link, comment.

Hi Bob,
Your reply "For this, uncheck a(n) Adobe setting. Link, comment." -- please explain further -- which Adobe setting?
What does the "Link, comment" mean? Presume we are in the browser when we do the unchecking? (Any browser - eg F/Fox?) Sorry to be so dumb, but many thanks for your heaps of helpful answers to so many people over a long period - you have helped many others, not just the people who are asking the questions!

Sadly, Adobe may move it around.

It seems to move so I offered a web search for the setting so folk can alter the search to what version they installed.

Thanks for the kind words but the cheese seems to move on its own.

That setting is somewhere in Adobe Reader. Run the program, find it in the Preferences or such, and set it to 'no integration" or "don't open in web-browser".
