Online virus & spyware scan and removal

by Mindstyle06 / March 1, 2009 5:17 PM PST

Hello All,

I am looking for online anti-virus and anti-spyware/malware scan that scans the system and REMOVES it. Google search gives a lot of hits but doesn't tell if it will clean/quarantine the infection.

Please post the scanner names and weblinks to those that fulfills both the requirements.

Thanks in advance.

If you want online scanner for those...

the above online scanners should detect trojans/spyware/malware also.

There is Trojan Online Scanner: http://www.windowsecurity.com/trojanscan but it do NOT offer removal. They suggest to use free A2 Free to remove the detected items by the online scanner.

You might want to use the free programs that will not only scan for malware, trojans and spyware but offer free removal:

1. Malwarebytes Anti-malware http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

online...

Thanks for all these links. I guess except trojanscan, none is online scanner and it doesn't clean.

The reason I am pressing on online-scanner is for my parents. They don't want to get into installation issues and I can not offer online support all the time. So thought online scanner should do the job in case of emergency.

Right, online scanners help a lot as long as the nasty will not block the user in:
1. visiting known online scanners
2. connecting online

The standalone removal (e.g. Stinger, Windows Malicious Removal Tool) and any of the above programs should be kept also because of the above events.
