Try the other, well, root and such.

I can't find the model so all I can offer is for you to find XDA Developers (the forum) and see if they have something newer.

Keep in mind that some take a nose dive in performance but heck, that's not the issue here.

Don't forget....
by birdmantd Forum moderator / December 26, 2013 6:51 AM PST

....that not all older phones can be upgraded to the newest OS. Which version of Android are you using and which model of LG phone are you using. My original iPad can't be upgraded to iOS 7, I am limited to iOS 5 due to the technical specifications of my device. Keep that in mind and learn to live with your phone's limitations.

There's gotta be a place on the internet that consumers can rely on to get help with their products. With all of the technology out there, you'd think that SOMEONE can come up with a reliable source to help us all with these issues!

Go to XDA_developers.com. This site is designed for folks wanting to mod/hack their devices beyond the factory settings. You might find additional help there. There will be certain hardware limitations when trying to upgrade older phones to the newer OS versions. Good luck.
