Occasional Quack sound

by violettj / April 24, 2006 12:53 AM PDT

Hi all,

On 2 occasions in the past week, I've heard what sounds like my PC making a long quack sound. Nothing else, just the sound.

I thought it might be my chair, but I'm not so sure.

I updated spybot, adaware, and Norton and ran each in safe mode with a reboot in between and they detected nothing other than some cookies.

Is there a duck/quack virus out there?

John

quack from speakers
by violettj / April 24, 2006 11:09 AM PDT

Well, sound is coming out of speakers. AIM is installed but I don't use it at home. My daughter does, but it was on when I heard the noises.

Since no-one has heard of a virus that quacks, maybe it's just random noise from my sound card.

Hi John,

Just a silly thought -- could the quack be coming from someone on your AIM Buddy list who uses that sound? I have buddies who quack, bark, squeal and coo. Happy
