Question

Notebook SONY VAIO FW lcd screen replacement

by asubiyyal / November 30, 2012 4:08 PM PST

So I have a Sony Vaio FW465J. This model falls under the Sony Vaio FW series thatall have a 16.4" screen.

Anyways my screen broke and my notebook/laptop the fw465 has a 1600x900 resolution.

Now, for the replacement screen I'm wondering if my notebook would support a 1920x1080 FullHD screen which was an option for some models in the FW series.

Screen comparison summary:

Old(broken) screen
LCD
16.4"
1600 x 900
1 CCFL

New(replacement) screen:
LCD
16.4"
1920x1080 FUllHD
2 CCFL

The graphics card I have is ATImobility Radeon HD4600 1GB

Thanks, please help if the new screen would work with my current laptop?

Answer
Ask those that sell it.

For me, I would never change such. We pop in the replacement parts and get it done. We can't experiment much as that would burn cash.

But if you've asked any Sony shop folk you know the answer.

Try those Ebay used gear sellers. They tend to try this.
