not connecting to the internet

just happened. turned on the desktop. no connection.
...device manager says all is well.
..."ipconfig/all" says all is well.
...updated the driver

when i hardwire to the laptop, i can connect. just not connecting to the desktop.

any help please so'z in can cancel an order for a usb ip from amazon Happy

Given the passing of XP.

If you google XP NETSH RESET and it's not the old expired antivirus you boot up another OS from CD like Ubuntu to see if there is a hardware issue.

With the passing of XP and with most shops having moved on, I strongly suggest that folk have a backup copy of a working system for these days.
