no video playing in internet explorer

when i go to a web page that has a video player or web page with a video link, the video does not display but i can hear the video playing. also, my system restore will not start up

Its Internet Options....

...at the Tools menu. Advance tab. Scroll down to Multimedia and check "Play video...".

Some content is DIVX based so share one URL so the CODEC can be checked.

ifilm.com and also my microsoft windows update screen is blank. i click on the link and the screen says done but nothing shows onscreen

It's very heavy on use of Javascript and will launch other windows as well as let you select various video players. There are 3 players. Do all 3 fail?

Use the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (Dxdiag.exe) to test sound. In the Run dialog box, type dxdiag, and then press ENTER
