no sound when playing dvd's

by Rfk112025 / March 31, 2006 6:09 AM PST

I tried playing a DVD using Windows Media Player. There isn't any sound. How would I enable sound? I checked in the control panel under sound and everything is enabled there. I've tried playing the DVD on my old computer also. No sound. I've tried another movie and still nothing.

Try uninstalling, then installing your DVD player software.

It has the code to play DVDs which WMP uses.

Neither one of the suggestions worked. Thank you anyway. If you can think of anything else to help enable the sound when playing DVD's, I would really appreciate it. Just puzzling because I've tried to play DVD's on both my old and new computer, and no sound on either of them. No problem with sound when listening to music on radio, etc.

While neither fixed it, you didn't give any details for the forum to work with. Such as if it worked before, the name of the DVD player software, make/model of the machine, OS details, etc.

Your choice if you want to get more help.

I found the sound!
by Rfk112025 / April 1, 2006 2:53 AM PST

It was just suggested to me to check to see what my default media player was. I went into "set program access and defaults". In there a check was next to "use my current media player". I removed it and I put a check next to Windows Media Player and was able to play the DVD with sound.
