No right click

by sroyeton / March 18, 2006 3:15 PM PST

Recently several things have disappeared from my computer.

First, the right click function on the Desk Top, it's icons and the Tool Bar. No longer calls up anything. I need to know the regedit settings, if that is the problem.

Next, my Shut Down and Log Off have disappeared from my Start menu.

Finally, System Restore will not start.

I doubt quite seriously that the problem is a virus or anything else infecting my computer. I have the following safeguards installed:

NOD32(one of the very best AVs,By
Zone Alarm Pro 6.1.737.000
Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4
Ad-Aware SE Plus, Build 1.06r1
Microsoft AntiSpyware(Beta 1) 1.0.701
Registry Mechanic

All definitions are up to date.

A Suggestion

There is sometimes a problem with Windows Updates noticed recently. System Restore and Search were disabled by one such. I would try uninstalling, if you have received lately. Otherwise the only suggestion is to stop processes one by one in msconfig.
