Question

no cd/dvd in win 8 after install

by lvartist / March 21, 2013 12:32 PM PDT

I just installed Win 8 (from my computer's cd/dvd drive). Clean install on a new hard drive. However the file manager shows that I do not have a cd/dvd. I also checked the device manager...it shows no cd/dvd). Apparently this has been a common issue with win 8. Is there a simple solution?

Answer
What brand DVD/CD drive?
by wpgwpg / March 21, 2013 1:24 PM PDT

I have two home built computers with LG SATA DVD/CD drives and they work fine with Windows 8. If you have another brand that's not working, you could invest $20 in an LG one.

Good luck.

Found a simple regedit command that fixed the issue after a reboot.

Thanks
