Today I see no machines with IDE so that advice/news is quite old.

And I fix this issue by swapping in a new drive too often. It's one to the common shop scenes right out of Monty Python at times "Sir the drive is dead", "No it's not!"

So try the usual first.

1. Clean the lens.
2. Install the Intel item if your machine supports it.
3. Try a new drive.
