Need help with placement of Samsung soundbar

by wishstar50 / November 11, 2009 7:55 AM PST

Just bought a new soundbar. The tv is on a stand, since we have vaulted ceilings in the room. It is not a stand which is 36" wide from top to bottom. The top shelf is wide, but the bottom shelves are narrower. If I place the soundbar right in front of the tv, it may interfere with the sensor on the tv. If I place it on a shelf under the tv, it will be bisected in two places by the vertical legs of the stand. Would that impact on the soundbar?

wishstar50,

So the legs would essentially cover the speaker cones - is that what you mean by impacting the soundbar?

Yes, the outer legs would cover the soundbar about a third of the way in on both left and right. Imagine the stand is shaped like an inverted triangle, with a 36" open shelf on top. Even the shelf right below the tv is much narrower, and the front legs would cover the soundbar with about 2-3 inches of leg on each side.

wishstar50,

If you can move it back at least 3-4 inches, it may still be able to give you a direct level of sound - assuming the speakers aren't completely covered up by the legs of the stand.
