Question

Need help connecting TV to wireless extender

by Nbuckta / February 9, 2013 6:40 AM PST

I purchased a netgear universal wifi range extender wn3000rp and have it completely installed. All my lights are green and its working on my iPad and iPhone. My vizio smart tv recognizes the access point and has all 5 bars. But when I get to the next screen and enter my 26 digit WEP key it won't connect. I tried taking extender back to factory settings and reinstalling and unplugging and re-entering. Nada. What am I doing wrong?

Having the same problem with Vizio and wifi repeater
by JPDevlyn / December 9, 2013 3:49 AM PST

Did you ever resolve this problem? Did you get it to work? I get the same thing; can see my repeater with full bars on the TV but it won't take the password for it. All other devices work with the repeater. ???

Answer
Issues with WEP.
by R. Proffitt Forum moderator / February 10, 2013 1:55 AM PST

Try WPA2 AES (personal security) next. Be sure to only use numbers and lower case letters on all entries. No reason for you to re-learn all the tips we have in the CNET Networking Forum.

If you demand that WEP work with non-alphanumerics then set aside a few months to call the makers.
