That 10 seconds is telling me that...

You have a share that the machine is/was connected to and that file or printer share is offline. Fix? Right click on Network Neighborhood and disconnect all shares until there are none.

I have all of the sharing turned off.

I was just using IE and it doesnt do it on there now. But it is bad on firefox.

I dont like using IE though.

I didn't note sharing.

I noted connections to shares. There is nothing else in your post for me to point to other areas yet such as spyware.

For now, try the disconnect feature I noted.

What pages are you trying to load? Do they use flash or javascript, etc?

Browser freezing (need help)
by ChoosyM / April 1, 2008 8:43 AM PDT
In reply to: what pages?

My browser (firefox) freezes whenever my boys are playing Runescape, playing games or watching a movie. It also freezes when I'm listening to music on some websites (extremely frustrating). I don't have a problem if I'm just surfing. I've made sure I do not have a virus, removed all spyware, used a registry cleaner, ran defrag. What else should I do?

Any and all assistance would be appreciated.

In my opinion, that's what you should do.. It doesn't appear like you've got the exact same situation as the original poster in this thread..

In addition, we'll certainly need more information about your computer setup to help.. Operating system, type and speed of internet connection?, Does Internet Explorer also freeze when playing games? Which version of Firefox? How much RAM?

Tried cleaning out all the junk files and preventing unnecessary programs from running at startup? Try the procedures in the link below:

Cleanup Steps

Using a registry cleaner can actually create more problems than it helps.. Did the problem start AFTER you used the cleaner?

Hope this helps.

I've done EVERYTHING suggested above except reinstall Windows. I have XP S2 home edition. I went back to Windows Explorer as my browser. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
