Proper recovery process

You need that power cord and attach as it *SHOULD* have been during the restore/recovery that is pointed out in the instructions in the manual or DOCs.

If you have that power cord, then retry using the same methods to restart the process, if you have done this and it fails even to start then its corrupted. You now need the actual discs and some ext. USB CD/DVD drive to attach to netbook to access restore/recovery data. You can contact eMachine support and ask for such. However, if you have access to a retail OS version, that too will do the job. You only need to further install the drivers, etc. that maybe needed to finish the task. You could also use a flash drive that has been prepared, but when it comes to OS installs, that tends to be tricky and not an item most users want to tackle. You can also buy from 3rd party restore/recovery sources, just buy from a trusted vendor.

Such a restore without the power cord is like a high wire act with no net. Can be deadly.

To fix this my bet is you'll order recovery media and buy or borrow the usual USB DVDRW. Figure about 60 bucks to fix this. Repair counters charge about double that.

In parting why wasn't the power cord in?

I thought I had enough battery life. I got a customer in and forgot about it. Good thing is I only paid 25.00 for the netbook but I don't know if I am going to fix it for 60.00 . Not worth much more than that used.

Many new laptops don't have CD/DVD drives so if you are into PC repair this is part of your kit. There are ways to install say Linux from some USB stick so it's not a total loss. Many folk have USB sticks.
