Let's try to keep the discussion in one place.
I wasn't sure where to post this so I also posted in the Office forum. Here is my problem:
I keep getting this error message when I try to start MS Word 2007.
Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
All of the other Office programs work fine. Word will not start at all. I have an Asus K8N-DL motherboard with dual opteron 2.4 Gig processors and 1.5 gig of memory. It has 2 - 160 gig SATA hard drives. The OS is XP pro SP2. I'm constantly downloading trial software and usually deleting it. I have Norton Internet Security, Antivirus and systemworks 2006 all upto date. I have tried uninstalling Office 2007 and then reinstalling it. All of Microsoft updates are current. I had installed XP SP3, but my machine started acting flaky so I uninstalled it and rolled it back to SP2 and even reinstalled SP2 from a file, but the problem persists. I don't do programming and all of the fixes I have found want me to reassemble my program using a built in manifest. I only have a very basic understanding of the side by side assemblies and wouldn't begin to know why Word is causing this error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
that link didn't work for me.
I've reposted in case others have the same problem;
